AGAPE HOME - Volunteer
AGAPE HOME NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
February 2001, the Nannies get ready for a team building excursion.

Agape Home is kept running smoothly by these full time nannies who work night and day to provide love and care for the children.

CURRENTLY ABLE TO care for about 30 children at a time, the Agape Home has taken care of 114 children since it was opened in 1996. Prior to 1996, there were few placement alternatives for orphaned or abandoned children with or at risk of having HIV/AIDS. Most often, these children were left to languish in hospitals with no one to care for them.

A major part of the ministry at Agape Home is the love and care that they provide each child.  With so many children, the work of cooking, cleaning, organizing and teaching takes a significant portion of the nannies time.  From the day that the orphanage opened, God has provided an ample stream of volunteers to supplement the care provided to the children.  The volunteers come in 2 five hour shifts, one in the morning, one after the noon nap.  The volunteers provide the extra hands needed to ensure that each child gets individualized care and training.

The Agape Home would love to have you come and help them.  We have several low cost places where you can stay, however, you will need to come with all your living expenses fully supported.  We ask for a minimum stay of at least 3 months, this enables you to get to know the children and make a meaningful contribution to their lives, care and development.  Because of the powerful impact they have on the lives of these children, word gets around quickly and the volunteer list is usually full 3-4 months in advance.  If you expect to have several months when you can help out, please contact us about volunteering so we can get you on the waiting list.
